Holiday Cooking for Your Corgi

Thanksgiving is over and the winter holidays are fast approaching, which means many of us will be spending a lot of time in the kitchen cooking holiday meals, sweet treats, and savory snacks. Why not make this most delicious time of year special for everyone by incorporating your Corgi into the planning? I don’t mean your Corgi will help you cook, of course, but with all the temptations gathering in your kitchen, you may as well have a few *special treats on hand for your best furry friend!  Here are a few of our favorite recipes to make this holiday season when cooking for your Corgi.

  1. Leftover Turkey Dinner Dog Treats. If you cooked a turkey for Thanksgiving this year, you may have had some difficulty finding a small to medium-sized bird. That’s because with gatherings restricted to smaller numbers this year, the demand for smaller turkeys increased. So if you waited too long to get your turkey, you may have ended up with a big bird and a lot of leftovers.  Never fear – here is the perfect recipe to utilize some of that turkey meat! This recipe uses just five ingredients: turkey, veggies, your choice of liquid**, eggs, and flour, and your Corgi is sure to love it!
  2. Grain-Free Sweet Potato Dog Treats. Another Thanksgiving staple that you may have lying around: sweet potatoes. Sweet potatoes are low in fat and rich in essential vitamins, which makes them a solid choice for feeding to dogs.  They are also high in fiber, so again, treat your Corgi in moderation so as not to upset digestion!
  3. Dog Healthy Holiday Cookies. This recipe includes peanut butter, unsweetened applesauce, and oats, all healthy ingredients that dogs love. (Make sure you use natural, unsweetened peanut butter that doesn’t contain xylitol, which is toxic to dogs!) The recipe also gives you the option of adding calming ingredients – either edible lavender or chamomile powder – which can help to calm your Corgi during the hectic holidays!

While you’re toiling away in the kitchen this holiday, don’t forget to keep your spirits bright! This adorable Corgi apron will keep your clothes pristine and put a smile on your face at the same time! Grab one for yourself or as a gift for your favorite kitchen maven!

And because holidays in the best of times can be hectic, we recommend taking extra good care of yourself this holiday season. Take time out to put your feet up, play some good music, and enjoy a soothing mug of hot cocoa topped with sweet Corgi marshmallows. *Remember to offer treats sparingly as Corgis, as well as humans, can be susceptible to weight gain this time of year.

**We recommend using water. If you use chicken stock, turkey stock or gravy, make sure it is low or no sodium and no added fats.
